Introduction
The Marangu Route, famously known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” is the only Kilimanjaro trail offering comfortable hut accommodations, making it a favored choice among climbers. As one of the shortest routes to the summit, this 5-day trek begins on the eastern side of the mountain. It features a steady and gradual ascent, passing through diverse landscapes—from dense rainforests to scenic alpine meadows and rugged volcanic terrain—before reaching the icy summit at Uhuru Peak.

After breakfast, we will pick you up at your lodge in Arusha or Moshi, depart from your hotel, and head to Marangu Gate, where you’ll complete registration before starting your trek. The journey begins with a scenic hike through lush rainforest, offering a chance to spot playful monkeys and vibrant birdlife along the trail. The cool, misty atmosphere and towering trees create a magical setting as you ascend. After an invigorating 4-5 hour trek, you’ll arrive at Mandara Hut, where you’ll settle in for the night, surrounded by the serene sounds of nature.

After a hearty breakfast at the camp, you’ll set off on a scenic trek through the breathtaking moorland zone. As you ascend, the trail unveils stunning panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, with its towering peaks and vast landscapes stretching into the horizon. The path gradually winds through lush vegetation, transitioning into an open expanse dotted with giant lobelias and groundsels, unique to this high-altitude environment. Along the way, keep an eye out for native wildlife and vibrant alpine flora. After an invigorating day of trekking, you’ll arrive at Horombo Hut, your resting place for the night, where you can relax, refuel, and soak in the beauty of your surroundings.

On your third day on the mountain, after an energizing breakfast, you will continue your ascent as the landscape transforms. The lush vegetation begins to fade, giving way to the vast and rugged alpine desert. The air becomes cooler and drier, making each step more challenging yet rewarding. As you trek higher, the breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys will inspire you to push forward. By late afternoon, you’ll reach Kibo Hut, your base for the night. Here, you’ll rest and prepare for the ultimate challenge—the final ascent to the summit under the starlit sky.

Your summit adventure begins at midnight, as you embark on a challenging yet rewarding climb to the roof of Africa. The steep ascent under a starlit sky takes you through rugged alpine terrain to reach Uhuru Peak just in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the vast African plains. After celebrating your incredible achievement at 5,895 meters, start your descent, passing through rocky slopes and changing landscapes. A short break at Kibo Hut allows for some recovery before continuing down to Horombo Hut, where a well-earned rest awaits, marking the completion of an unforgettable day on Kilimanjaro.

This marks your final descent on the mountain. Here, you’ll bid farewell to your mountain crew before being transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha town, where you can relax and reflect on your incredible journey up Kilimanjaro.
